We Can’t Wait For the 5th Annual Show-Me Innovation PITCH Competition!

This 5th annual event, presented by The Callaway Bank, is set for November 2nd, 2020

The 5th Annual Show-Me Innovation PITCH Competition is scheduled to occur on November 2nd with seven participants on the schedule.

The PITCH Competition, open to anyone who is looking to start a new business in Callaway County or is looking to expand their current Callaway County business, is a way for participants to pitch their business idea to a panel of judges.  The participants have just 10 minutes to convey their pitch idea to the judges and the judges have just 10 minutes to ask questions to the participants.  Once all participants have pitched their business ideas, the judges deliberate on who will win 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes.

“We know when you are starting a business, funds could be tight as you are planning your budget, purchasing inventory, putting a deposit down on a lease, and more.  Through this competition, we are able to provide seed money to those participants so they can really get their businesses up and running in Callaway County.” Chamber Executive Director, Tamara Tateosian, said.

The first-place winner will receive $3,000 for their business, second place will receive $1,500, and third place will receive $750.  Along with monetary winnings, first place will also receive packages that help them with their daily operations such as a $1,000 advertising package from KOMU Channel 8, 500 business cards provided by General Printing, 2021 planner from Boyd & Boyd, free 1:1 business coaching, advertisement in Chamber Community Profile magazine courtesy of Speck Publishing, and 5 business name badges from B-Line Engraving.

“We have set several different precautions in place so that we can still hold this important event.  We have adjusted the competition so that we are abiding by COVID-19 regulations to keep the participants, judges, and Chamber staff safe” Tateosian said.

Keeping the audience virtual is just one way the chamber is protecting the participants and judges.  Typically, there is a live audience to watch the participants and then submit who they think should win the Audience Choice.  However, to minimize the amount of people in the space, the audience can view the event virtually and submit their votes through a Zoom chat.

“We still want this to be a memorable experience for our PITCH participants, but ultimately, we want to keep everyone safe and healthy.” Tateosian concluded.
